Headwaters Economics

Many of the groups listed on this site use an environmental economic group called Headwaters Economics. It was started by the former head of the Sonoran Institute and does studies to show the benefit of wilderness and lands set aside without human presence. Headwaters Economics is organized as a 501(c)(3). It has received $8 million from largely environmentalist foundations, including the Hewlett Foundation ($1.6 million), the Wilburforce Foundation ($800,000), the Brainerd Foundation ($2.4 million), and the Kresge Foundation ($947,000).
